Best Body Armor
Armor plates stop rifle rounds that soft armor can't. Material choice drives every tradeoff — weight, multi-hit, and cost.
UHMWPE is lightest but fragments-only. Ceramic composite is the duty standard. Steel is cheap and bulletproof against the wrong threats — never against fragmenting rounds without spall coating.
What to look for
- +NIJ threat level (III, III+, IV) with published test report
- +Material (UHMWPE, ceramic/PE, ceramic/steel, steel w/ coating)
- +Plate cut (SAPI, Swimmer, Shooter)
- +Single-curve vs multi-curve
- +Weight per plate
