How We Make Money

Rogue Gunfighter is reader-supported. When you buy gear through our links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This page explains exactly how the money flows, what we do not do, and why that matters for the reviews you are reading.

Affiliate commissions

Every retailer link on this site may be an affiliate link. When you click through and buy, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale from their own margin. You pay the same price you would pay without the link. This is the primary revenue source for the site.

Our affiliate partners include:

  • AvantLink — Primary Arms, Brownells, Natchez, Palmetto State Armory, Optics Planet, Blue Force Gear, and more.
  • CJ (Commission Junction) — Impact Guns, direct brand programs.
  • Impact.com — Spiritus Systems, Haley Strategic, and direct-to-brand programs.

What we do not do

  • Paid reviews. We do not accept payment for positive coverage.
  • Sponsored posts disguised as editorial. If a piece is sponsored, it is labeled. We currently have no sponsored content.
  • Selling personal data. We do not sell or rent your information to third parties. See our privacy policy.
  • Affiliate-rate-driven rankings. Commission rates differ across retailers and brands. Our Gear Score and recommendation order ignore them.

How editorial independence is protected

  • Reviewers do not see commission rate data when scoring.
  • No brand may review, approve, or edit a review before publication.
  • We publish negative reviews of products we have affiliate links for. If a product fails, we say so.
  • We have removed affiliate partners over quality and ethical concerns in the past; we will again.

Network revenue

Rogue Gunfighter is part of a network of firearm-industry sites we operate: AR15 Outfitters, Rifle Optics World, Precision Ammo, and Valley Firearms. Cross-site links are a mutual-benefit traffic referral, not paid placement. We link to siblings when the context genuinely calls for it — e.g., a loadout review links to the rifle builder on AR15 Outfitters because a loadout needs a rifle.

Product samples

Some reviews use product samples provided by the manufacturer at no cost. A sample does not obligate a positive review or even a review at all. When a review uses a sample, we disclose it in the review body. Many reviews are based on gear we purchased at retail from our own pockets.

Ads

We do not currently run display ads. If that changes, ads will be labeled, non-intrusive, and never dressed up as editorial content.
